How can you go anywhere without a destination...
Goals are your destination...
They represent the end result....
Goals are important as they help you focus on what you believe is important to achieve but they are useless without a road map to guide you to them..... There is no mystical sat-nav to input your starting place, your goals and magically be given instructions to your destination...
So unless you work out how to get there, you have just a list of wishes. This is where most people fall down and its where I have fallen down many times in the past.... Difficult as it may be, if we just took some time to think about our list of goals, write them down so we have clear focus,
1. Lose weight
2. Quit smoking
3. Get out of debt
4. Achieve financial freedom
5. Gain the powers of flight
Obviously the latter punches known physics in the face, so please keep within the realm of known scientific theory to avoid wasting your time.
You must create the map to your goals yourself and the key to this is to simplify.... Your initial goals may look daunting as you think to yourself "I have just written down a load of pipe dreams, how will i ever achieve these" fear not, nothing is impossible ish!
We all have busy lives and we know 24hrs is just not enough but taking time out to clear your mind and focus on what's important is crucial in today's modern society. We are constantly bombarded with many forms of media and social interaction and before you have time to blink, years pass and the regrets and resentment build.
To simplify is to break down each of your goals into smaller, bite-size goals and then repeat the process until you have something you can do TODAY to start your journey....
Lets take getting out of debt as an example:
1. Getting out of debt
1a- Calculate how much debt you owe
1b- Create a personal budget for your household1c- Keep track of expenses1d- Buy only the things you need and not what you want1c- Research what options are available to you This is just an example but as you can see the smaller bite-size goals are much easier to achieve and if you repeat the process for each of the above, you will most definitely have something you can put in your ToDo list for the following day....... Why not download an app for tracking expenses....
Apply this principle for every goal you want to achieve and you will be amazed how easy it is to progress to your destination.
