The Surgeon General’s Report on Nutrition and Health was released in July of 1988. It basically said that 5 of the top 10 leading causes of death were due to our rich American diet. Heart Disease, Cancer, Stroke, Diabetes, and Atherosclerosis are primarily caused by the foods we eat and are therefore potentially preventable.
If you add in the impact of alcohol, you can add 4 more causes to the top 10 list – accidents, suicides, homicides, and cirrhosis of the liver.
Think About That For a Minute….

I know, I know….
There is no cure for cancer. There is no cure for diabetes. You cannot reverse heart disease.
Man people will believe this. And maybe it’s true, but then again maybe it’s not. Most doctor’s think it’s true – do you? The point is if you BELIEVE it is, then you are simply allowing yourself to be a helpless victim, thinking there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it.
And You Would Be Sadly Mistaken
People HAVE cured themselves of diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer. Of course you don’t hear about this watching the evening news. I mean let’s face it, disease makes a lot of money for people in the health care industry, especially the pharmaceutical and insurance companies. If we were all healthy with no disease whatsoever, they’d be broke.
Why offer to reverse your diabetes when they can control it with a lifetime of drugs, which brings in an never-ending supply of money. Side effects? No problem – we have a pill for that too….. for just a bit more money.
Why cure your heart disease when they can put in a stent or perform a bypass, which makes them a ton of money, (and does make you feel better… for a while) …. until it clogs up again because they never addressed the real cause to begin with.
Here in America we have become very food at treating symptoms, but we suck at curing the real problem. Because then the money flow would stop.
I’m not picking on the doctors here, quite honestly, disease treatment, is really all they are trained for….not disease reversal, or prevention. And that training? All those years of medical school? That’s just another part of the sick care / making money system.
True health care? That actually prevents or reverses disease? That’s our job. And we can do it.

Documentaries like the one you see below, Eating – by Mike Anderson, are a good place to stat. Mike teaches a whole food, low-fat, plant-based diet. The same diet that is recommended by Dr Dean Ornish, Dr. Neil Barnard, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, and Dr. John McDougall.
