Go On A Journey With The Maccabees’ Video For ‘Marks To Prove It’ [Video]

British indie-rock band The Maccabees have been kicking around for a while, but always manage to up the ante. Their newest release, the greatly anticipated Marks To Prove It, drops on July 31, and their music video for the rollicking title track is a surreal take on a London commuter’s journey. Setting moody scenes of the band performing the song against contrasting, sped-up footage of the businessman protagonist making his way through a claustrophobic, overwhelming city, the song’s clanging lyrics of “Thousands of people / Tight lines and hopes the weather stays the weekend” ring even truer against the video’s portrayal of helplessness. With an entrance into an underwater dreamworld, the video takes a turn for the surreal, but the solid rhythm of “Marks To Prove It” makes sure it never strays from the intensity. Check out the video below, and make sure to grab The Maccabees’ new album on July 31.
