This week I was contacted by Global Gossip to have their prepaid mobile plans listed on the prepaidplans.com.au website. Everyone assumes I charge to be listed. 
I don’t it is a free service unlike some others out there. The offer is free because I want you the customer to have access to all plans, not just the ones that might compensate me should I direct a sale to them.
I had seen the Global Gossip website some time ago but hadn’t been able to speak to anyone in the business. Their focus is international travellers to Australia and lots of other countries for that matter. They offer a basic Pay As You Go plan with 20c call rates per minute, no flagfall and 5c/MB data all via the Vodafone network. This is a very standard offer. However Global Gossip also offers a range of Animal Packs. These plans give you a free amount of Txts locally and internationally, plus call credit which can be used for both local fixed line and mobile calls (and select international calls).
The Dingo Offer at $10 gives you 100 Txt and 25 minutes of calls, credit lasts for 30 days. Then you have the Koala at $20 with 300 Txt, 60 minuts in calls and 250MB. The the Croc at $30 with 900 Txt, 120 minutes and 500MB and finally Shark at $50 with 1800 Txt, 250 minutes and 1GB of data.
All plans give you unlimited calls and txt to other Global Gossip users.
The sites states that should your call credit expire, PAYG rates kick in. I have asked how this works ie is you credit card on file for this charging to work. If you are traveling to Australia, you can buy your sim online and then pick up your sim card from lots of locations around Australia.
“As for PAYG you can have it on your account together with an Animal Pack at the same time as an Extra Credit. That extra PAYG credit expiry is 6 months. For example you can top up with $50, purchase a $30 Croc Pack and have $20 on your account as PAYG for 6 months which can be used for another pack purchase after 30 days or on extra services such as phonecard or internet usage.”
A key differentiation between Global Gossip and other plans is the ability to share your call credit with your phone and desktop as well as even a prepaid phone card.
