So far, every Northside for us has been filled with indecisiveness, and a fear of missing out; so for our sake and yours, here’s a playlist we’ve put together to give you an idea of where your ears should be this week. We’ve been seeing a lot of names pop up in our lives over the past year that we’re pretty excited about. One band in particular, Mobile Steam Unit, mixes different genres, and decades really nicely. They have a sound that meshes early 2000s electronica with the harmonies of Crosby, Stills and Nash. Their album Country Raw is a gem. They’re playing Thursday at The Deli’s showcase at Sunnyvale. We’re also pretty excited about seeing Hercules & Love Affair on Friday on the roof of Output. We’ve always loved their music and this will be a first for us. There’s also plenty of room for nostalgia with Brian Wilson on Sunday, a huge hero for us. This is his last tour and it’s definitely beautiful to see him playing those songs. There’s Xeno & Oaklander (we remember seeing them years ago at 285 Kent), and of course Grandmaster Flash!
