Less than 24 hours after our day out, on Monday afternoon, an out-of-control bin lorry mounted the pavement nearby the Museum of Modern Art hitting a pedestrian, traveled about 150 metres hitting several others and finally crashed into the Millennium Hotel at George Square. Six people were killed in the tragic accident, and 10 other people, including the lorry driver, were injured.
In less than 24 hours, the atmosphere at George Square has changed from laughter and joy, to sadness.
{image source}I still can't quite believe what has happened. I had a tear in my eye on the way to work as I listened to the updates on the radio, and tears streamed down my face on the way home. We still don't know what caused the incident; but police investigations are underway.
Last Christmas was the Clutha Helicopter Crash, and now this.
When I light my candles this evening I'll be thinking of all those affected by yesterday's tragic events.
