LANKS is a name you’ll likely hear passed around these days given that the Melbourne artist just released his stunning debut EP, Thousand Piece Puzzle, this summer. With gentle folk lyrics and vocals embedded into sleek electronic grooves, LANKS claims influences from the left, right and middle — from Bon Iver to Jamie XX and over to Radiohead. There’s a very appealing ambiance surrounding the seven track EP that makes its 22 minutes just not quite long enough. LANKS drops the beat and omits at just the right moments for full cinematic effect, sometimes reminiscent of the dark/light tension found in alt-J’s similarly genre-combining sound. You can stream LANKS’ Thousand Piece Puzzle in its entirety on SoundCloud, then get your own copy at Bandcamp. But wait, there’s more! You can download “Green Light” for free right now, after you listen to it above.
