Our little Kimmy isn't a fan when we take a hundred photos of her first thing in a morning.
Alana decided to try on someone's shoes; as you do.
Everyone panic; time for make up.
"Get my camera out of my face."
Pout like you mean it, Tal.
Last minute alterations on Leona's dress.
I love these four ladies. {l-r: Alana, Devon, Kimmy, Leona, Talia.}
The point where we're too lazy to get changed and so we sit waiting for time to pass.
We're changed. Into our disgusting Grandma skirts we had to make.
Talia and Alana's skirts, ooft.
Hey there disgusting Grandma skirt.
Major last minute alterations while in our first outfits for the show.
I capture beautiful mugshots; oh hey there Alana in the background trying on her altered skirt.
Kimmy continued to flash us all day.
"YEAR ONES! WHERE ARE THE REST OF THE YEAR ONES." On our way.
Another photo of us in our Grandma skirts.
Finally a photo of us in our Black vs. Grey dresses we made; Leona got changed too quickly for the photo.
The 24th of May was the dreaded Fashion Show something I and the rest of our little group of five had been dreading; so much that we had refused to model for anyone else because we were too petrified to do it more than twice.
For the fashion show because we're year ones we weren't featured as much as the second years. We had to make two garments; one was a skirt {all looking fabulous and fetching} now these are not your usual skater skirts no, these are Grandma skirts. The whole aim of this was to use techniques it wasn't about the fashion more about the art. For Alana's skirt she used; tie dye and stencilling, for mine I used; brusho, mono printing and stencilling.
Our second garment was a whole lot better, for the second walk down the catwalk we had to make dresses, either black or gray and it was almost like a gok wan where the two dresses go head to head with each other.
I was entirely against forcing us to model for ourselves saying how we want to be designers not models; this is purely because I had zero confidence to walk down there and was scared of having a panic attack. And dress rehearsals on the Wednesday before in front of all the models was the scariest most intimidating thing, ever. I am not a model, I do not have a model body and being forced to do it wasn't fun at all. But when we got to dress rehearsals on the day with it just being our class it was hilarious, just our little class and no one else watching made it a lot easier and somehow I managed to get to the top and bottom in one piece twice.
The song we walked down to on the first round was 'Girl Just Wanna Have Fun' by Cyndi Lauper, what a song, am I right ladies? But we didn't get to enjoy the entire song as we had to sprint back off stage and run to the dressing rooms to get into our second outfits. Panic set in when we realised we had two minutes and I change shoes and put converse on. Anyhow, as I stood next to go on Talia wasn't there and nor was Leona for Alana and we were all in a panic while Beyonce Count Down was playing and suddenly Talia appeared and I walked down with her as planned, but Alana had to switch but ended up walking down with someone else, but anyway in the end it all got sorted out and went well!
It was a lot more fun than I expected it to be and because the five of us weren't modelling for anyone else we went all the way back around and watched the rest of the show from the top. But yes, we all had a great job and we're so proud of everyone who took part. Roll on next year!
