How elegant is this Gimme Clear! Unexpected lotion from Indemne? Nothing better than prettily packaged skin care products! If you haven’t heard of French brand Indemne before, you need to check them out because theiy are being hailed as the next big thing in skin care and the Gimme Clear! is apparently already a cult product in France. I hadn’t heard of them before I was asked to pick a product to sample from their site – which is full of random little French doodles (see below) so I’m glad they got in touch. All of their products are free from animal testing and 100% natural – they’re so proud of this that they have their own Charter of Commitment that they adhere to.
Indemne are an eco-bio company specialising in natural skin care using only essential and vegetable oils to treat sensitive, irritated or blemish-prone skin. Apparently the lady who founded the company suffered from skin problems for years and couldn’t find any effective natural treatments to ease her symptoms, so being pro-active she created her own brand using natural oils usually used in massage/aromatherapy for skin care instead.
The Gimme Clear! Unexpected lotion (how quirky is that name btw) is a product that claims to ‘ unclog pores and fade imperfections‘ and help you in your battle against acne without damaging your skin. It smells spicy… and to be honest vaguely reminiscent of the shavings from a sharpened pencil. However it’s packed with natural ingredients to give your skin some TLC while it fights blemishes such as;
Lemon (antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral)
Carrot Seeds (regenerating, healing, revitalizing)
Cinnamon Bark (anti-infectious, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, astringent)
Green Oregano (powerful disinfectant)
Vegetable hemp oil (nourishing, anti-inflammatory, rich in Omega 3 and 6)
You have the option of using this product as a topical treatment to affected areas over night by applying it directly to your skin (after cleaning it thoroughly obvs.) and massaging it in gently with clean fingers until it’s absorbed into the skin. The website states that this product works best applied on skin free from any other products and left overnight. There’s no such thing as a miracle cure for blemishes, but this comes close. It drastically reduces redness and inflammation. I used this for a week straight, suffered no adverse reactions and my skin tone actually improved.
Alternatively you can also apply it in the morning to clean skin and (so the website says ) use a moisturiser on top before you apply make up… however I found all that together was too heavy on my skin so I just applied a tiny drop to any areas I needed and applied make up over normally once it was absorbed. Which took about fifteen minutes, not ideal if you’re in a rush. My skin didn’t feel greasy with it on, and concealer/foundation glided on pretty well over it actually. Plus it continued to reduce irritation during the day.
While it doesn’t smell as amazing as some other skin care products, this unexpected lotion really does the job. I am a huge fan of this product, it just works. No fuss or frills, just a brilliant product that comes in a glass bottle and a hand sewn hemp bag. No excess packaging or paper which is pretty cool too. All in all the Gimme Clear! Unexpected lotion gets a big thumbs up from me!
