Getting Ready for Junior Burger and Satisfying My Foodie Cravings

By Foodie Cravings @foodiecravings

For those of you who haven’t noticed my sweeter than usual cravings or missed my facebook page post update last week, burger boy and I have are having a baby! About this time in August, we’ll have a new foodie in the family :)

So in preparation for junior burger as named by foodie cravings reader Denise, I’ve been spending more time in the kitchen than usual, I’ve lost count of how many years “cooking more” has been on my New Year’s Resolution list but this year I’m all over it!

I’ve even added a new section to foodie cravings called Cooking Basics for sharing all the useful cooking tips or recipes I find along the way. It’s an evolving section so if you have any favourite recipes or tips let me know – I’ll test it out and if I love it I’ll add it to the page.

These are some of my latest cook ups:

My cravings for sweet foods has been uncontrollable, thankfully I found this eggless pancake recipe at 5am one morning…

I’m not sure about you, but I can have slow cooked comfort dishes and soups anytime of the year, yep even in this Perth Summer heat, I just crank the air con!

I cooked up my favourite Osso Bucco recipe tonight, this is Gary Mehigan Masterchef Masterclass recipe (Episode 24)…

And minestrone soup as entrée – a new one inspired by tips from foodie cravings readers and Blue Apocalypse’s Urban Locavore vegetarian minestrone soup recipe

I made these kecap manis pork chops last week. It’s not my usual way of marinating pork chops but my craving for something sweet got the better of me. Turned out to be super tasty and I’ll be making it again, I just mixed kecap manis with freshly chopped garlic, corn flour and brown sugar.

Next on my to cook list is my mum’s amazing Vietnamese and Malaysian/Singaporean hawker food and burger boy’s mum’s Italian dishes! I have 6 months to get cooking before the lack of sleep takes over my patience to learn

:)

You’ll start to notice more home cooked meals on foodie cravings facebook page, twitter and instagram soon!
