Williams, Arizona and some old-skool Route 66 awesomeness.

MMR 2014 continued: We got out of Los Angeles as fast as we could. We headed North East, destination Britton, South Dakota in search of my family history. Our first stop was the classic ole’ Route 66 town of Williams, Arizona. Apart from the truly horrible food we ended up buying due to being tired, jetlagged, on a tight budget and everything closing really early on a Sunday, this was a very fun trip back in time.

After Williams, AZ we stopped by the very grand Grand Canyon and then we continued straight north east through Arizona into Colorado. I can still replay all the beautiful moments in my head of driving through the american west. The Navajo land of Arizona in the setting sun. Crossing majestic mountains in Colorado. Finding Blue Bell ice-cream in a small gas station. And finally arriving in Salida, Colorado which proved a nice place to rest for a few days (in the funkiest of western style motels) before our final run towards South Dakota. A run which involved 3 states in one day and a college rodeo. Stay tuned!

Tired and jetlagged we ended up eating truly horrendous food from Dairy Queen. It said Open and everything else we could afford was closed.
