I have personally never been to a bug museum before so when I found this little gem I was pretty excited! I mean…my boys were really excited. The Bug Museum & Reptile Room is a colorful little building just off the highway with loads of neat bugs inside.
As you make your way around the bend make sure to snag a scavenger hunt sheet to complete while reading up on all the fun facts about the bugs and animals. you will find frames upon frames of different bugs. This may not sound that exciting in general but there were so many bugs I had never seen in my life before. I was in total awe and wonder looking at all the different species and colors and sizes of insects. There were even a few live bugs in cases attached to the wall. It was truly fascinating!
While headed towards the Reptile Room in the back, there is a large chalkboard for your little ones to draw their favorite insects on. Of course my boys were thrilled to spend a few minutes leaving their imprint on the board and even asked me to join in. It was great seeing them working together to create similar creatures. Finally the Reptile Room though small was filled with snakes that I have never encountered in a zoo before such as corn snakes and king snakes. Those these may be common snakes in some areas, it was still neat to see up close and personal. My youngest was so stoked to see a huge yellow boa in the corner and for the first time said “whoa” and pointed in excitement. I had to almost drag him from the reptile room because he loved the snakes and lizards so much. After making our way back to the front we picked up a couple of souvenirs and donated a couple of dollars for offering an awesome free experience. Though it a small museum slightly tucked away in Bremerton, it is totally worth the time to check out. You and your little ones will love getting bugged out even if it is a quick stop.
