#getinspired Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014

Hellooo shimmers,
As you may, or not, know the 2014 Commonwealth games are currently taking place. For those of you who have never heard of them, it is basically like the Olympics but only for countries in the commonwealth (countries with Queen Elizabeth as there head of state) for example Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Wales, Canada, Australia (71 countries in total). On the coverage of the games, they are constantly talking about inspiring people and wanting people to get involved in spots. I'm not the sportiest of people, however, I have to admit that I have been inspired. I really want to get healthier and so I have decided that cycling is the way to go. A last weekend my mum, dad and myself went cycling. We cycled from a little town/village called Callander to another little village called Strathyre ( and then back again!). It was around 18 miles along a country path, and I absolutely loved it. We don't always get great weather and so sometimes it can be hard to get out on the bikes but this summer we have been getting some really good weather.

I think this was the only bit of flat road, so I couldn't sit down for a couple of days!!

Lovely Views from the bike

Also watching the games makes me want to go swimming! Our Scottish men and women have done really well in the pool and they make it look easy! Also the Scottish and English did amazingly in the gymnastics and they were amazing to watch. Greg Rutherford of England got gold in the the long jump so a big congrats to him too. I also decided that I could run the 100m faster than Bolt, turns out I can't... It looked so easy to run that fast it hardly looks like he is trying. A big shout out to Sarah Adlington, she won gold in the 78kg+ Judo. I met Sarah at University and she is such a lovely person and I am so pleased for her so a huge congrats to Sarah. Our Scottish team seems to be doing super at the moments and I wish them well for the rest of the games.
So I have to say the commonwealth games has definitely inspired me to get healthier and take up a sport, that I am actually really enjoying. #getinspired . Have any sporting events, or any other events, inspired you in any way?Laura x
