Get Rid of Varicose Veins Naturally

By Dusana Bozenkova
Varicose veins are problem for many people and it can start in early age. I was very young when I noticed varicose veins on my legs. Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins near the surface of the skin. They are most common in the legs and ankles.
People who have varicose veins might also have achy legs that feel heavy.
I used to didn't want to wear shorts and skirts, because I felt bad about it. Then I started to read a lot on how to get rid of varicose veins with home remedies and I decided to try them all, just to see which remedy works best.
I would like to share with you some tips that have worked for me.
To get rid of varicose veins naturally, it is best to try more options than only one and do it step by step.
Lets first talk about what causes them:
- Genetics, varicose veins often run in families.
- Some jobs where you have to spend a long time standing up.
- The hormonal changes that occur during puberty, pregnancy and menopause.
- Increasing age.
- Being overweight.
- Lack of movement, sitting a lot.
- Sun exposure.
Tips how to get rid of varicose veins naturally:

In some jobs prolonged standing or sitting is unavoidable. If you must stand for a long time, shift your weight from one leg to the other every few minutes. If you must sit for long periods of time, stand up and move around or take a short walk every 30 minutes.
2.) Sit up straight and don’t cross your legs. Good posture improves circulation, while crossed legs restrict blood flow to and from the legs. I have to say this was very hard for me, because I'm used to cross my legs when I sit, somehow I feel more relax to sit that way. But now I got used to it.
3.) Maintain a healthy weight, so that the veins in your legs aren't under too much pressure. Also drink a lots of water (it really helps). Additionally, drinking water is a great way to lose weight. Keep a water bottle with you all the time, at your work and while working out. A little bit of water often is better than a lot of water once in a while.
4.) Limit your salt. Eating less salt can help with the swelling that comes with varicose veins. Eat a diet rich in fibre, include fruits, berries, fresh vegetables and whole grains. Remember that too much salt in your diet is one of the major causes of spider veins.
5.) When you are lying down at night, to reduce the pressure on your legs is to elevate them above your heart. Placing a pillow under your legs as you sleep on your back is a great way to increase circulation and relieve pressure on your legs to get rid of spider veins. I love to put my feet up, so relaxing.
6.) Walking, cycling (my favorite), swimming, yoga and stretching will also help increase circulation to get rid of your spider veins. These types of exercise not only keep the condition from worsening, but they improve blood flow which reduces your leg pain and keep you fit.
7.) Compression stockings are effective at preventing the problem and can improve circulation.
Whenever I have to travel, I always use a pair of compression stockings to keep my legs strong throughout the journey.  Stockings helps increase energy, reduce pain and helps prevent your legs from aching and swelling.
8.) Don't wear high heels too often. Heels put too much stress on your veins by putting your legs in an unnatural position. Plus, wearing very high heels too often or for too long can cause knee and back pain, as well as other foot problems.
I love any kind of shoes, but heels are my favorite. I used to wear high heels every day, I couldn't imagine to go out in flats. Now I wear ballet pums, they are so cute and comfortable. I still wear high heels, but it is more for going out.
9.) Don't drink too much alcohol. Excessive drinking of alcohol may cause your veins to dilate permanently leading to spider veins.
10.) If you smoke then stop or try to be a social smoker. Smoking damages blood vessels, so might be linked to varicose veins. Studies have shown that smokers are more likely to get spider veins.
11.) Try to place a cloth wrapped in apple cider vinegar on your legs for 30 minutes to reduce the appearance of spider veins. You can wrap your legs and feet in a towel soaked with vinegar, and keep it on, while raising your legs as high as possible.
12.) A few years back I tried a herbal supplement combining butchers broom, horse chestnut and vine leaf (Bional - Butchers Broom, Horse Chestnut and Vine Leaf). I bought these capsules with the Bional V-Nal cream for legs, 3 months before my summer holidays.
Horse chestnut extract improves the health of your veins and blood vessels and increases circulation. I liked the cream a lot, it has a lovely fragrance and reduces the appearance of veins.
When taken tablets, always read carefully the detailed instructions and precautions which come with the product.
Hope this tips will help make your feet relaxed, beautiful and varicose veins free.
Remember to try them all, step by step.
