“Banoffee” is a type of English pie made from bananas, cream and toffee that I imagine is almost as sweet as the music of Melbourne-based bAnoffee, whose sound recipe is a mixture of minimal R&B beats, sugary synths topped with drizzles of dulcet vocals. Her recently released “Ninja” starts off on a sweet note to her lover, cooking him a hot breakfast “just the way he likes it” before suddenly flipping the scene and declaring “there’s only room for two”. There’s suspicion of someone else, and bAnoffee is pissed: “I’m a fucking ninja now”, the mood making for a literally kick-ass song and new video.

Sweet but not fragile, bAnofee is set to release her debut EP this year, but until then, enjoy a fresh slice of “Ninja” – song above, video below.
