"Burnett, Lackey rolling into prominent matchup

A pair of Pirates All-Stars will look to ride their hot streaks into the midseason break Saturday night, when the Bucs and Cardinals continue their critical four-game series at PNC Park.
Right-hander A.J. Burnett will start for Pittsburgh, looking to finish off one of the best stretches of his 17-year career. The veteran right-hander, a first-time All-Star, carries a 1.99 ERA into his 18th start of the season.
Burnett has been particularly stingy at home, putting together a 1.28 ERA through eight starts at PNC Park this year.
Center fielder Andrew McCutchen, meanwhile, will have a chance to extend his career-best hitting streak to 18 games against Cardinals right-hander John Lackey. McCutchen quickly made it a 17-gamer Friday, knocking a first-inning single to center field.
Things to know about this game
• Lackey is on a hot streak of his own, having pitched at least seven innings in each of his last five starts. During that stretch, Lackey is 3-1 with a 1.75 ERA. And he pitched well at PNC Park earlier this year, holding the Pirates to one run over six innings on May 2.
• How good has Burnett been at home this season? In eight starts, he's allowed as many stolen bases (seven) as extra-base hits -- and only one homer -- in 222 plate appearances.
• Don't expect to see Matt Holliday (right quad strain) back in St. Louis' lineup this weekend. Manager Mike Matheny said Holliday likely will sit out until after the break.
