"Locke, Reds rookie face off as rivals meet again

Tuesday's series opener between the Reds and Pirates at PNC Park will feature two pitchers coming off subpar outings. One's a newcomer, the other has logged more than 370 innings in his career.
Michael Lorenzen will make his second career start for the Reds on Tuesday, and the Bucs will counter with lefty Jeff Locke. Cincinnati swept Pittsburgh in early April at Great American Ball Park.
In his Major League debut on Wednesday, the 23-year-old Lorenzen allowed three home runs in an 8-3 loss to the Brewers in Cincinnati. Locke is coming off a rough start in which he lasted just 3 2/3 innings and gave up six runs -- five earned -- on eight hits in a 6-2 loss to the Cubs in Chicago last Tuesday.
Things to know about this game:
• Cincinnati's big bats have not fared well against Locke. Jay Bruce and Joey Votto are a combined 5-for-27 against him.
• The Pirates' 107 wins at PNC Park since the start of the 2013 season are the second-most home victories in the Majors, behind the Cardinals' 114 at Busch Stadium.
• Pirates pitching went 94 1/3 innings without allowing a home run before the Cardinals' Matt Carpenter went yard against Vance Worley on Sunday. It was their longest such streak since 1976 (97 innings).
