Game 154: Reds @ Pirates- September 20th- 7:05pm

By Kipper @pghsportsforum
The Pirates begin their last series at PNC Park this season with a crucial showdown against the Reds, to try and gain some seperation from them and at worst guarantee themselves the top wildcard spot in the National League. They open up this series by sending Francisco Liriano to the mound to oppose Reds starter Matt Latos in what should be a very tight series. If the Bucco bats can get off to a good start and put some runs on the board early, Liriano is more than capable of making them stand up.
This is definitely a series where the Pirates can make a statement going in to the postseason that says we ain't going to be an easy out for anyone, and for all intents and purposes this could be the series that determines where the Pirates will be pisitioned entering the Postseason. The Pirates magic number currently sits at 4 and how sweet would it be to clinch a wild card spot before the Buccos hit the road. I don't look for any shenanigans from Reds pitchers in this series like the beanball fests from previous matchups seeing how critical this series is for both teams.
