"Bucs seek important bounceback effort in Cincy

Two starting pitchers enjoying strong late summer stretches will be at work when the Pirates and Reds continue their three-game series on Tuesday at Great American Ball Park, where the Bucs saw their National League Wild Card lead trimmed to two games over the Cubs with a loss in the opener.
Francisco Liriano saw his five-game win streak end in the Pirates' 5-3 loss to the Brewers on Thursday, when he allowed four runs in five innings. Liriano is 8-3 over his last 18 starts since May 19, while Pittsburgh has won 11 of his 12 starts.
For Cincinnati, Raisel Iglesias is on a streak of seven straight quality starts, a stretch that began on Aug. 1 vs. the Pirates. Although he has a 2-3 record in that span, he has a 2.31 ERA and is the first Reds rookie pitcher to notch double-digit strikeout totals in three consecutive starts (33 over his last 21 innings).
Things to know about this game
• Liriano has never beaten the Reds during the regular season, going 0-5 with a 3.96 ERA in 10 career starts. He did beat Cincinnati in the 2013 National League Wild Card Game.
• The Reds are expected to activate center fielder Billy Hamilton from the 15-day disabled list and start him on Tuesday. Hamilton has been out since Aug. 19 because of a sprained capsule in his right shoulder, suffered while trying to make a diving catch.
• Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen has hit 23 career home runs against the Reds, the most he's hit against any team. Since the beginning of 2009, McCutchen's 23 homers against Cincinnati are the most by any player in the Majors.
