funtheband11 550x366 FUN. RELEASED ONE FOOT FROM UPCOMING LP [STREAM]

Last week, fun. received a seal of approval from the mainstream juggernaut that is Glee. The choir kids performed a rendition of “We Are Young,” the first single from the band’s highly anticipated second album Some Nights, due out in February of 2012. Now, fun. (Nate Ruess of The Format) has released a new song. “One Foot” will appear as a b-side on limited edition 7-inch copies of “We Are Young” featuring Janelle Monae.

The Some Nights album teasers and new songs performed at last month’s Bowery Ballroom show (review) have displayed a heavy hip hop influence on fun.’s new material and “One Foot” is no exception. It’s greatly rhythmic and uses horn samples and thick bass-y beats to create a marching band-like vibe. The song includes fun.’s signature quiet, introspective b-section but quickly moves back into the regular, driving tempo of the beginning of the song. If “We Are Young” and “One Foot” are indicators of what to expect on Some Nights, we are in for an album full of powerful indie pop anthems with an unmistakable hip hop flavor.
