My skin has not been playing ball recently. Poor thing, it's not really its fault. My digestion has been awful and the change in weather is never good for it, so it was all bound to go wrong at some point. Luckily, I have a wealth of skincare products to try and beat it into submission, but when those didn't work either, I turned to a more innovative beauty gadget. You all know my love for the original Magnitone but when the Full Monty came out, I knew an upgrade was in order. They're pricey things though, so here's a little pro and con list to make the decision making process a little easier.
Pros: As mentioned above, nothing clears up my skin like this. The vibrations last in 20 second bursts for a minute on the facial setting to alert you as to when you to move to different areas of your face. It really does get every last scrap of makeup off your face and a nice level of exfoliation for an everyday level. I like to use it with an oil to make sure it isn't too stripping. The vibrations are meant to 'wobble' the dirt out, but that's a little hard for me to measure so I'll stick to the facts - if you're after glowier skin and a deep clean, this one's for you.
The new heads are also a welcome addition. The full body brush gives an amazing exfoliate which leaves your skin silky smooth. A particularly nice feeling to get away from the dryness winter tends to bring. I'm also really looking forward to using the pedi head when summer comes around as well.
Cons: The price has to be the major sticking point here - it's expensive on its own, as are the replacement heads that you'll have to buy a couple of times a year. Plus, it's a risk as to whether you'll actually like it or it will become a hulk of plastic that just gathers dust at the back of your bathroom cupboard. Some people do complain of a slight 'purging' stage of using it when their skin breaks out as well so maybe if yours is particularly sensitive or prone to reacting badly to products this is one to give a miss.
My advice? I'd stick with other options unless they really aren't working for you and you really feel in need of a boost. I've had some form of one of these brushes for about 18 months now and have to admit that I go in phases of using them or not. You could always put it on your Christmas list and heavily hint that you want it, perhaps Father Christmas will be kind to you this year.
