Umbrellas below the clock tower, Prague
While living in Warsaw in 1990-91, Mr. Miscellany and I went to Prague several times. It was an easy trip — one night train and you arrived at the main train station just off Wenceslas Square. We often did what we called the Prague daytrip. We would take the night train to Prague, head immediately to a bakery on Wenceslas Square and then spend the whole day wandering around, looking at the incredible architecture, buying books in English from the Globe Bookstore, which had a much better selection than the options in Warsaw, trying new restaurants, and seeing the sights. One gray day, the line to climb clock tower in Old Town Square, usually quite long, only had a few people waiting, so we went up. As we got to the top, it began to rain, and I momentarily looked down and saw the people below opening their umbrellas, creating a rainbow of color and pattern.
