A few years ago my dear friend Laura and her amazing daughter Wren came to visit me in New York. I'd warned Laura about how catty some New York people could be about things like shoes and handbags. I'll never forget being a party when a certain celebrity stylist commented on how 'comfortable' my shoes looked (she did not mean as a compliment).
In stark contrast to this, Laura had at least 3 random New York women stop her to say how much they loved her bag. Where did she get it? I think she took great pride in pointing out it was a custom piece no longer available from Queen Bee Creations.
I first discovered Queen Bee items in Seattle years ago, but I remembered Rebecca Pearcy from the Campus at The Evergreen State College in Olympia WA. Now she's expanded from her tiny Olympia bedroom to a huge boutique in Portland OR. Queen Bee Creations is the original collection that started it all: waterproof faux-leather bags & wallets with graphic appliqué and stitched details. From there it expanded to Chickpea baby, a line of wonderful diaper bags that are sturdy, chic and a great way to organize your things even if you don't have a baby! Now there's Rebecca Pearcy Textiles. A line of stunningly beautiful fabrics handcrafted and silk screened in house. I have fallen in love with a bunch of her prints, I cannot wait to buy her 'Scissors' tote. It will the perfect birthday gift for a certain fashion designer. Queen Bee's stylish durable goods look amazing and will last for years.
If you are lucky enough to live near Portland you can visit Rebecca's shop. In addition Queen Bee goods, you'll discover a carefully curated selection of locally & regionally crafted jewelry, clothing, accessories, paper goods and home goods. These items are made by friends, neighbors, and like-minded artisans that resonate with the Queen Bee aesthetic & lifestyle.
