I’m doing something this year that I promised myself I would do as soon as turned 18. I’m applying for a passport. I am determined to do some traveling this year. I have some friends who have invited me to visit them in Europe.

This month will be devoted to Fab Finds items that make travel easier. Which is ironic because I need to get a copy of my birth certificate for my passport is SHOCKINGLY complicated! I mean I’m kinda glad no random person can get a copy of my personal documents but annoyed it’s taking so long.

Still it brings up an important issue for anyone when they travel but especially for a woman traveling alone: security.

I was horrified beyond words when I heard a story about a woman attacked in her hotel room after she locked her door.  Front desk gave a man her key without verifying his identity!  She sued and won.

The alarm is easy to set up: while holding the thin blades together, simply slide them into the crack between the door and doorframe, then loop the cord around the door handle and adjust the toggle to keep it in place. Lastly, set the alarm. This same technique can be applied to sliding doors or to windows as well. No matter the situation, it will alert you to a possible intrusion.

The device comes with a built-in LED Light and a handy flashlight is always useful! I’m excited to travel to Europe and will sleep safe knowing I have this inexpensive device.
