As Skin Cancer Awareness Month continues we present you with another great resource for sun protective clothing, Coolibar.

The majority of Australians are of English descent (that story of how the entire continent was used as prison is a myth, the overwhelming majority of British people who relocated were simply colonists) meaning the populace tends to have very fair skin. That combined with a depleted ozone layer, the warm weather and clear skies that encourages an active outdoor lifestyle has led to unfortunate result: Australia has the highest incidence of skin cancer of any country in the world. Two out of three Australians will be treated for some form of skin cancer during their lifetime and melanoma is more commonly diagnosed than lung cancer

And with that Coolibar clothing was born, the name was taken from the famous eucalyptus tree found in the harsh Australian outback. Coolibar is more geared toward activewear and clothes that will be worn during other warm weather months. Regular summer clothing provides very little sun protection. Wrinkles and age spots are the least of it. The sun has been proven to aggravate medical conditions, interfere with prescriptive drugs, and to cause skin cancer. Your summer weight t-shirts and sun-dresses can let in an astonishing amount of the sun’s damaging UV rays. Coolibar sun hats, protective clothing and swimwear use superbly protective, high-tech fabrics to deliver no less than 50 UPF (UPF = Ultraviolet Protection Factor), 98% blockage, yet keep you cool, comfortable and fashionable.

Coolibar offers hundreds of items for men, women, children and even infants in sizes from petite to plus. Not just clothing either. you can find sunglasses, scarves, umbrellas and even tents, all of which offer UPF protection.
