Friday’s Fab Find: Combat Flip Flops

There are few things that make me happier than featuring a Fab Find that has a charitable component.  As you probably know, Bridgette’s Facebook Group donates half their monthly earnings to fashion-related causes and charities. In August, the group will be making a donation to the Clean Clothes Campaign, a global alliance dedicated to improving working conditions and empowering workers in the global garment and sportswear industries. Not a member of Bridgette’s group yet, you can click here for more information. Yes, it’s great to shop, but shopping while helping? Even better.

That being said, a product that contributes to charity isn’t enough. I’ve passed on a few items that were not great quality or simply weren’t something our readers would want.

Combat Flip Flops

You can imagine my thrill when not only do I come across a Fab Find that not only creates REAL change in areas of conflict and provides products I truly love!

I was contacted by Unarmed Forces aka Combat Flip Flops (it started as a footwear company but has expanded, hence the name change) asking if I’d like to try a pair of sneakers. You can visit their site for yourself here.

Hey, I like free footwear, so I told them, “sure!” The pair of weekenders I was sent was super comfortable and I received a lot of compliments on them. I have lived too long to endure uncomfortable shoes.

But there’s more. We are all aware of the crisis of the border and of desperate people fleeing their home countries and seeking asylum (which don’t let anyone tell you any different is 100% legal). But of those people who remain in areas of conflict, Unarmed Forces creates real opportunities for economic growth. Check out Founder Matthew Griffin’s Ted Talk.

It’s simply an added bonus that their footwear and apparel are super fun and cute. You can learn more about the people this company helps here.
