This week was about recovery, rest and a lingering quiet my grandparents left behind as they’ve returned back to Portugal. It was about recognizing my accomplishments, and that I was of the select few thousand to endure running a half marathon in a monsoon. I not only pushed myself physically, I pushed myself past mental capabilities I hadn’t ever before. A dear friend said, “Half and full marathons aren’t just races but life experiences; it’s difficult in the beginning to understand that the idea isn’t to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit.” Regardless if you’re a runner, or embarking on a challenging endeavor, remember that you can do it. Believe boldly in yourself, because no one else can accomplish the things you set your mind to, except yourself. {Image above}
