Friday’ Fab Find: Urbain Jewelry

When I was in high school, I visited my sister Misty in San Jose and while there I bought a pair of printed denim jeans. This was before the internet, so it was a solid year before printed denim made it to Oak Harbor WA. I LOVED LOVED LOVED having a completely unique one-of-a-kind piece. I loved sharing the fun tale of spotting them in a window after visiting the Winchester Mystery House. Having my sister be part of the story of how I obtained my exceptional jeans made me feel close to her. Alas, at age 14 I hit a growth spurt just a few months later and donated the pants to my cousin.

Urbain Jewelry

Like me, many people want rare one-of-a-kind pieces that come with a noteworthy history. I feel so lucky to have found Urbain Jewelry (website here). Urbain's goal is to create products that tell the amazing stories of men and women who have gone before through rustic materials. Wearing these pieces is a way to start reflecting your own journey.

It begins with the raw materials which Urbain gather themselves. Traveling thousands of miles, going underground, diving to the bottom of rivers and combing through historic sites. All this is done legally. Their talented hands then use files, drills, and saws to turns the raw materials into usable pieces.

Once the pieces are usable, They are combined with metals like stainless steel, sterling silver, antique brass, and 14k gold. These beautiful chains, clasps, and tags give the natural look an elegant finish. I was gifted with a stunning BloodStone necklace from The Soudan Mine which operated in Minnesota from 1882 to 1965 and Urbain creates short films to explain the history of their pieces.

With a small supply of materials, each run is limited. You are guaranteed to have a distinctive elegant piece that cannot be duplicated. The jewelry even comes in custom packaging! Itching to get your own piece? Tell me why this Urbain Jewelry sounds amazing in the comments below and you could win a piece of jewelry from them!

Looking to become part of the story? Check out Urbain's Kickstarter for their new line. The killer jewelry that reminds you to never be afraid to stand up to giants.
