Freedom Fry is a perfectly blended folk pop duo from Los Angeles and we’re glad to see they are back with a delightful fourth EP, The Wilder Mile. The titular track is a standout with driving bassline and earnest lyrics drenched in an inviting optimism. In between the jovially whistled melody and the gentle beat kept in time by a tambourine, it’s the effortless feeling of the song that will quickly win over your heart and ears. Combining the powerful pop sensibilities of Bruce Driscoll (also of the sunny pop band Blondfire) and the folkier songwriting of Marie Seyrat, the duo has mastered a beautifully nostalgic sound that resonates in the sincerity of its neatly arranged layers. Focusing once again on the charm of simplicity, the accompanying video is a slightly sepia-toned visual collage of artful shots featuring the duo singing, clapping and stomping along to their own little tune.
