343 Industries has teamed up with Saber Interactive and Innova Systems to launch an all-new free Halo multiplayer game on PC. Dubbed Halo Online, the closed beta period of the multiplayer-only game will launch this Spring, but only in Russia.

“Halo Online is powered by a highly modified version of the Halo 3 engine and optimized for smooth performance on lower-end PCs. While there’s no campaign mode, Halo Online is set on a secret UNSC space installation called Anvil, where Spartan-IV soldiers train together in war exercises to sharpen their battle skills and test experimental technology.”

According to 343, Halo Online is a learning opportunity for the company in targeting new fans to Halo universe. The game was built specifically for PC and there’s no plans to bring the game to Xbox One.
