What can be better than a Christmas gift made with your own hands? Nothing, of course! By investing your time to present your good attitude, warmth and friendship to your surroundings with a DIY gift, you show them how precious they are in your life and that you care. And a handmade Christmas card can serve this role just great. A very talented illustrator Alexandra Balashova has created a set of four 3D holidays postcards. Choose from four animals standing next to a decorated Christmas tree – a Ship, a Rabbit, a Mouse or a Fox.

Download the pattern in Alexandra’s blog, cut out the elements and put them together with a double sided duck tape. You can read a more detailed description of the process in my previous post about 3D Cities postcards.
Here’s my variant. I’ve decided not to color the background and instead use the color paper I had. Then I also drew some dots and snowflakes with a white pen.
Let’s take a closer look at each of the cards!
Mr. Moose looks very festive in his fair isle sweater and black hat. He is holding a basket of Christmas balls and is about to hang one of them onto the Christmas tree.
Miss Fox looks all dreamy holding a tiny paper christmas tree.
I really love that Alexandra left some space for fantasy at the patterns. It’s absolutely up to you which color of clothes the forest creature would wear and how the Christmas tree will look like. These templates can also help you have a great time with your kids during the weekend. Why not color and make the cards together? Common activities always make us closer to each other.
