After an overwhelming smattering of new releases last week, this week is way lighter, but still extremely kick ass. Ten years into their career and after a four-year hiatus, Scotland’s Franz Ferdinand are back with their fourth record, thankfully sticking to their dance, rock roots, while delving into some heavier subject matter. Also carrying more sobering tones than last time around are The Dodos, who lost a member of their touring band. Carrier is sweeping, intricate, and honest, elements which combine to form one seriously gorgeous record. Then, there’s the kid with the voice, King Krule, released his debut record over the weekend that you’ve just got to hear to believe — even then, you may not fully grasp what’s playing. Raw and extremely charming, King Krule’s flavor of rock is something not to be missed. And finally is funk pop darling, Dent May, back with his third full-length that will either charm or dance your pants right off.

FRANZ FERDINAND – RIGHT THOUGHTS, RIGHT WORDS, RIGHT ACTION

THE DODOS – CARRIER

KING KRULE – 6 FEET BENEATH THE MOON
