Fossil Unearthed Of 50 Million-Year-Old Giant Ant
A Canadian-US team of scientists have unearthed the fossil of a 'monstrously large' 5cm (2in) long ant which crossed the Arctic using land bridges between continents.
The ant, named Titanomyrma lubei, is thought to have existed around 50 million years ago and was the size of a regular hummingbird. Fossils of the creature were found in ancient lake sediments in Wyoming, USA, making it one of the largest ant species ever discovered.The Presurfer
