Forza Horizon 2 Xbox One & 360 are “different games” on different engines
Forza Horizon 2 developer Playground Games has confirmed that both the Xbox One and 360 versions of the racer are “different games” running on different engines.
Speaking with DigitalSpy, Fulton confirmed that Forza Horizon 2 will run in the Forza 5 engine on Xbox One, while the 360 edition – developed by Sumo Digital – will run on the previous Forza Horizon’s tech.
Explaining both versions, Fulton told the site, “It’s based in the same world, it’s based on the same themes. Rather than thinking of them as the same game on different platforms, they are different games inspired by the same ideas.”
“There are things we are doing in Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox One that honestly couldn’t be done on any other console,” he added.
Forza Horizon 2 launches in September.
