From Britannia Brewing Company in the Richmond with a tasting room in Steveston Village comes their "Forty Fathoms Imperial Spiced Porter". The beer pours a deep brown colour with a brown head. The aroma consists of cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, toffee and spiced rum and a sweet finish. The flavour is of cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, toffee, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, earth, spiced rum, bitterness and some mild alcohol. The alcohol content comes in at 7.7% with an IBU of 30. This is a really interesting brew with the ginger and spiced rum flavours really dominating the flavour.
Commercial Description: This limited release is a blend of dark specialty grains complimented by spices of ginger, vanilla, cardamon and cinnamon. Dark and cold is forty fathoms deep, let the alcohol keep you warm with rich tones of chocolate, toffee, dried fruit and hints of spiced rum.
