-Jonathan Winters
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
-Marianne Williamson (quoted by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech)
It takes both courage and responsibility to demand greatness from ourselves.
It is very easy to live a mediocre life, and to blame that mediocrity on external circumstances. Small people spend their whole lives making excuses as to why a magnificent life is unattainable, or how they will be successful once certain things fall into place.
What’s difficult, and what many people find impossible, is to claim responsibility for their life at this moment, and commit to an extraordinary life.
To have everything you want, you must take action right now.
Think of someone that you believe holds an amazing life. What qualities do they have? What path did they follow?
Chances are the person you’re thinking of is unique. This person didn’t take “the path less traveled”, but rather a path untraveled. They followed a new path that led somewhere incredible. The person in your mind stands out because they took action, and made a difference in their life, in the lives of others, and changed the course of history.
You owe it to yourself to become magnificent.
If there’s something in your life that leaves you unhappy or unsatisfied, then you owe it to the universe to make a change. Don’t wait until circumstances are ideal, that day will never come. There will always be excuses to not taking action, overcome those and be who you were meant to be, the world needs you.
Fortune follows the bold, not the hesitant or mediocre.
