It is titled Forbidden Fruit. This book is a twist on the story of Jack the Ripper. Forbidden Fruit opens with one of the servant girl Lucinda Belle, one of the main characters, being attacked and escaping the clutches of her employer, Judge Whitman. The next morning, after spending a cold night alone in the back alleys of London in the late 1800s, Lucinda meets Dr. Aleister Wellington, another main character. The story follows the lives of Lucinda and Dr. Wellington as their love blossoms and they find themselves at the center of the Ripper murders.
Tell us about your next release.
My next release is in the process of editing. It is the sequel to Forbidden Fruit; it is titled The Resurrection. This story opens with a Jack the Ripper copycat murder. Inspector Anderson, the same inspector that investigated the first Ripper murders in Forbidden Fruit, finds himself faced with another string of murders that are eerily similar to the Ripper murders he had investigated almost ten years earlier. Many familiar characters of Forbidden Fruit as well as some new characters will find themselves caught up in this investigation. Both Forbidden Fruit and The Resurrection were NANOWRIMO projects.
Plotter or Pantser? Why?
Panster—definitely panster. I am too unorganized to be a plotter. I get an idea and run with it. My stories begin with one scene and it builds around that scene—sometimes the scenes is the opening scene in the story, sometimes an ending scene and sometimes it is a scene that fall in the middle of the story. I begin writing and the characters come to life; they tell me what to write, they introduce me to new characters and often times they surprise me with revelations.
What are your favorite TV shows?
Wow! This is a great question for me at this point in my life. There are so many great paranormal TV shows today. It is awesome. My favorite shows are Supernatural, Grimm, Dracula, and of course American Horror Story—however, I liked the first and third seasons best. I do like the TV show Reign. And I absolutely love Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State and Celebrity Ghost Stories.
What is it that you like to do when you’re not reading/writing?
When I am not writing I like to watch movies (scary movies), I like to sketch and paint and I have cats—so I love to enjoy the company of my cats. In the spring, summer and fall I like to garden and do anything I can outdoors (an added benefit to this is that I usually get to do these things with my husband, daughters and son-in-law). And lastly, I love to listen to music—while writing, painting, exercising and doing housework; pretty much all the time.

I do have a website and a blog. My website is basically what’s going on with me as a writer and my blog is mostly book reviews and spotlights of other authors—mostly independent authors. When day broke, Lucinda was frightened, hungry, and alone. As fate would have it, she would not stay that way for long.Lucinda made her way down the alley back to the streets of Whitechapel. Upon arriving at the main street, Lucinda stumbled on her long, tattered, and dirty dress and fell into the path of an oncoming carriage. Little did she know, this was the carriage of the man who would change her life.
The coachman halted the horse just before it trampled Lucinda. The master of the carriage peered out the window to inquire of the driver what had happened. When he did, he saw Lucinda on the ground, her hands scraped and bloody from the fall. He hastily climbed from the carriage to check on the young lady.
The master of the carriage stooped down on one knee and held out his white-gloved hand to Lucinda. Her beautiful but tear-stricken face broke the kind man’s heart. He knew he had to help her, no matter what her station in life was. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes upon—thinly built, with silky dark hair, alabaster skin, rosy cheeks and lips, and emerald green eyes.
“Madam, I am so sorry. Please allow me to take you back to my home to launder your clothing and clean your wounds. That’s the least I can do after we almost brought you to an end. What is your name?”
Lucinda looked up to find a handsome, distinguished man who appeared to be in his mid-thirties. His hair was dark and collar-length, and a little tussled. He had placid skin and warm, brown eyes. She could tell by the look in his eyes and the sound of his gentle voice that he was a man she could trust. She graciously accepted, “Thank you, kind sir. My name is Lucinda Belle.”
As the master of the carriage helped Lucinda to her feet, he introduced himself as Dr. Aleister Wellington. “Come, I will help you into my carriage; I was on my way back to my home.”
Lucinda let him assist her. “Thank you.”
Once inside, Lucinda felt a strange, comforting feeling she had never before known.
Dr. Wellington offered grapes and wine to Lucinda. Lucinda ate and drank feverishly, having not eaten anything since early the day before. The ride was a bit longer than she had expected. The doctor’s house was on the outskirts of town.
Ronda L. Caudill grew up in the small rural town of Glade Spring, VA and married her high school sweetheart. They have been happily married for 25 years. She has two wonderful daughters.
