Makes sense, right? If you want to get seen, get your brand
in the news.
That’s why I respond to HARO pitches.
HARO? That’s an acronym: Help A Reporter Out.
Somebody’s writing an article and they’re looking for “experts.” No pay, but if they use your contribution, they’ll include your name and a link to your site.
I’ve been published lots of times, but it’s like writing a blog post– you have to promote your work to boost the chances it’ll get seen.
I’ve been pretty good about promoting my HARO successes on social media: sending out tweets, posting to LinkedIn, etc.
Earlier this year, it occurred to me that I could also promote them here, on my blog, by adding “News” as a menu item.
Here’s where I’ve been a slacker and fallen down on the job:
I haven’t been updating my News page. When people click on it, they see old news from 2019.
So it costs me credibility, as in: dated info => visitor thinks: the guy lost interest– this Armstrong’s a lazy bum!
Maybe I exaggerate, but… who knows?
So I’ve just added 5 new items to my News page, which brings me all the way up to… July 9, 2019!!
So I’m still a slacker, and I probably haven’t gained much credibility, but… it’s a step forward!!
