For Frites Sake…

By Michelle Jr @abeeandtoe

Frites are a huge deal in Belgium (and they should be, as Belgian frites are the best I have ever eaten)  they blow ‘french fries’ out of the water completely and (I hate to say it but) they have the edge on the British chip as well.

There is even an app you can buy so that you can see all the top rated friteries in Brussels

I have heard nothing but amazing things about the frites at Maison Antoine/Place Jourdan. The wonderful Taste of Brussels blog has written a great review of Maison Antoine and are also working on a  ranking of the frites in Brussels, which I can’t wait to read.

I really enjoyed the frites from Maison Antoine and I especially enjoyed being able to eat them sat outside with a beer, but I have to say that I have had better.

Frites Brussels

To be specific the friterie on Avenue Georges Henri has my favorite frites so far.  They are very crunchy and slightly dry, but full of taste.  Rather than in a cornet, they are served in a little white cardboard box.

Prepared right in front of you they are incredibly fresh and although I only live a couple of minutes away, it is very difficult to not start tucking in on the way!

So, while I agree the frites from Maison Antoine are very good, I would suggest that you try ALL the friteries in Brussels to see which frites you prefer and then of course when you’ve finished that you can try all the friteries in Belgium.

Happy Days.

Where are your favorite frites from?
