So you've already gathered that I love to blog, cook, bake and eat out. Something you may not know is that I am an avid reader and always have a book on my bedside table ready to read. I am about to jump on the Fifty Shades of Grey bandwagon as soon as my friend gets her copy back from someone else who borrowed it. Right now, I'm reading The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest, the final book of Stieg Larsson's three-part series.
Aside from fiction, I love reading my favorite foodies' biographies and cookbooks. Recently I read Talking With My Mouth Full by Gail Simmons and finished it within a few days. There are a lot of other books on my radar that will be taking up some shelf space in my room pretty soon...
Food Blogging for Dummies by Kelly Senyei. I actually met Kelly when I went to the Food Blog Forum in Orlando in March. She spoke about recipe development when we broke up into smaller groups to discuss various topics. Kelly gave some great tips and suggestions, and is really an awesome person. I'm glad that a family friend introduced me to her blog awhile back. If you haven't already, check her out at Just A Taste
Eat My Globe by Simon Majumbar. He is a judge on “The Next Iron Chef” on Food Network, and the co-editor of a hugely popular UK food blog who traveled around the world in search of the world's greatest food. This book has been on my list of must-reads for quite some time. I imagine that once I pick it up, I will not want to put it down. What an awesome life...traveling and eating only the best foods you can find. If I had the resources, I would jump at the opportunity to do something like that. The only logical thing to do in that situation is, of course, to write a book documenting every step of the way. I can't wait to get my hands on this memoir.
Cook Like A Rockstar by Anne Burrell. She's my favorite chef on Food Network. I love her crazy demeanor and even crazier hair. She is the host of Food Network's “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef” and “Worst Cooks in America” — of course I was rooting for her team the whole way, and yes, Team Anne won! There's got to be some great recipes in her book that are easy to understand and include ingredients that are easy to find. I don't know about you, but I would definitely love to learn how to Cook Like A Rockstar and I don't think there could be a better teacher than Chef Burrell.
The Cookie Dough Lover's Cookbook by Lindsay Landis. I met Lindsay at the Food Blog Forum as well. She's another one with a great blog that you should check out at Love and Olive Oil. This cookbook is not easy to resist just from the name alone. What's even better is that the cookie dough recipe is homemade and egg-free so you really can just feast on cookie dough alone! Not too shabby! This dough can be used for so many different things, ranging from indulgent breakfast foods to frozen treats, Lindsay gives us plenty of options with this cookbook. You can never have too many recipes for a cookies...
