On a blistering Autumn Sunday, there is only one thing any Northern lass ever wants and that's a Sunday Roast with all the trimmings...Last year when we visited Leeds, we stopped off at The Alchemist on arrival for a lovely brunch, read all about that here! When given the chance to pop back for another meal, we most certainly couldn't resist. We knew that our Saturday evening was going to be a, ahem, tipsy one. So nothing cures a bad head like some roasties and Yorkshire puddings, ya hear?
We arrived at The Alchemist at around 1pm and the place was full to the brim, good job we had a reservation! It is clearly a popular place to be within Leeds city centre, there was a waiting list as long as my arm of people awaiting a table, accompanied by scrumptious grub and incredible cocktails. We were led to our table in the middle of the dining area, overlooking the outside diners with a good view of the whole place, which is so beautifully decorated - we're talking lots of copper, distressed wood, scaffolding, and greenery.
We were welcomed by the lovely Will, who talked us through the cocktail menu. We eventually decided on a Candy Crush and Key Lime Pie and they were magical. The Alchemist are known for their weird and wonderful cocktails with well over 20 options on their huge menu, there's one for every type of taste! From Bubblegum, to something smoky, there's something for everyone! This time, I and Carli both opted for the roast chicken dinner and we knew that it was going to be amazing the moment in arrived.
So you get your standard chicken with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and the most delicious stuffing balls - seriously, those babies were good! You also get some seasonal vegetables in the sweetest little dish, carrots, peas the whole lot! You get a little jug of gravy and this just wasn't enough - we had to ask for more! You can never have enough gravy I suppose! The whole dish was fabulous, all totally fresh and home-baked. The Yorkshire puddings really impressed me, I often find places slack on the quality of Yorkshires, but these were delicious!
We decided to share a dessert and a dessert cocktail, opting for a chocolate fudge cake and Solero cocktail. The cake was so rich and luscious with a salted caramel sauce on the top, which was just delicious. The Solero cocktail tasted just like the solero ice cream, super fruity and refreshing, with cream on top for that lil' bit of dairy! Can I have one of these after every meal please?
I can't wait to go back to The Alchemist again and have some food off of the regular menu, as I've only had Sunday Lunch and Brunch. They have some beauties on their menu which I'd love to dip my teeth in to!
