This meme has been going around the Interwebz in one form or another for quite a while now. I would give credit where it is due, but I honestly have no idea who originated this or how it started. Sorry! Just know that someone much more awesome than me started this one!
Since it is never a bad idea to share a little more insight into who I am and what makes me tick, here you go:
1. What time of day do you typically read/do you prefer to read?
I love to read before bedtime. It is the only way I can fall asleep anymore because it has become such an ingrained habit. I also love to read at lunchtime. It gives me a wonderful break from work and recharges my mind and batteries for the rest of the work day. Granted, sometimes it is a little too difficult to stop reading and actually get back to work…
2. What is your strangest book related obsession?
Um…does not being able to put away new books into bookshelves until I log it into my TBR spreadsheet count? Books will pile up on my desk until I log them. Also, I won’t download electronic copies until I do the same. That’s weird, right?
3. Like which author do you wish you wrote?
I don’t. I have never had a desire to write novels or a book of any kind no matter how often someone asks or urges me to do so. I am perfectly happy reading other people’s words rather than having to worry about my own.
4. Who do you think is the most over-rated author?
Ha. Dan Brown comes to mind immediately, unfairly so probably. My next selection would be E. L. James. In fact, she is probably the queen of this list.
5. What do you think is the most over-rated book?
Can I just go ahead and say the entire Fifty Shades trilogy? Is that fair? Because I can only think of all of those potential authors who cannot get published for whatever reason, but someone writing fan fiction gets a bajillion dollar deal. Life is so unfair.
6. Which two authors would you like to see go head to head in a word-off (like a dance-off)?
This is completely random but I would love to see Jane Austen and Molly Harper go head-to-head. Both are snarky in their own way and skewer relationships and social norms. I think that could be a blast. Then again, I’d like to see Molly Harper go up against Jim Butcher. For creating sarcastic characters, both are masters.
7. I’ve always wanted to read Lord of the Rings in a cabin in the mountains or Nora Roberts in an Irish inn or The Woman in White in an abandoned asylum. What book-location pairing do you wish for?
The moors of the United Kingdom to read Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. They sound so bleak and isolated and yet beautiful and inspiring. To read two of my favorite books of all time in their natural setting seems like perfection itself.
8. Describe your bookish self in three words.
Eclectic, open-minded, unrepentant
9. Name one of your favorite characters and what you would do with him/her if you had one day together.
This is a tough one! I was going to say Scarlett O’Hara, but I don’t know if I could spend an entire day with her; she’s too exhausting. Dracula would be another choice, but he’s out because of that whole drinking blood thing. I think I’d have to go with Anne Shirley. If anyone could teach me more about learning to find the beauty in life and to embrace it with one’s whole mind, body, and spirit, she would. I would just let her take me all over the island to show me her favorite haunts, eat her favorite foods, and get to know her favorite people. I can’t think of a better way to spend a day.
10. If you had one extra day in the week, that nobody knew about and didn’t count, what would you with it?
Can we make this happen? Because I am in desperate need of an extra day each week. I would like to say that I would spend that day reading and sleeping, especially if no one knew about it. However, given the state of my house and pantry, I would probably spend it cleaning and cooking – all of those things I cannot seem to get done during the regular week. Then, I would read.
