‘Follow Your Art’ is a fairly new concept introduced by Anti-Slavery International consisting of multi-art events to raise awareness and funds for the charity, whilst at the same time supporting street artists and the notion of street art. The debut of ‘Follow Your Art – Street Art Against Slavery’ was last October at Village Underground in the lead up to Frieze Art Fair, and was a roaring success, where £30,000 was raised for Anti-Slavery International and the awareness spread amongst many.
Following on from this success in bringing Anti-Slavery International to the forefront of contemporary culture, they are in the process of planning another event that will take place on 3rd April 2013. Partnering with Village Underground and continued support from Moniker Projects, endorsements by Sotheby’s, as well as new found support from the famous gallery StolenSpace, we are set to create a similar, even more exciting event.
Street art remains a huge focus with pieces created or donated by a select few of London’s most influential street artists including Remi Rough, Vinnie Nylon, RYCA, Pure Evil, Dscreet, James Jessop, Benjamin Murphy and Jo Peel. As well as this exhibition, ‘Follow Your Art’ will see the premier of an edit from the short film ‘Dots’, an ongoing film project looking at the roots of graffiti and street art with a focus on the notoriously influential book Subway Art (1984), filmed and directed by street artist Dscreet.
Finally, music will be a main draw with the timeless DJ Grooverider headlining the night and bringing in the crowds.
