Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton is that august institution of higher education that used a trivial administrative excuse — that he failed to submit a form to his college dean in a timely manner — to fire a tenured professor, Dr. James Tracy.
Of course, everyone knows that the real reason for the dismissal is Tracy’s well-researched and well-reasoned skepticism about the official narrative we are given about the Sandy Hook school shooting of December 14, 2012. See:

It is a testament to FAU’s institutional integrity and commitment to its faculty that when Dr. Tracy was still an employee of FAU, the university stood by and did nothing when he received an avalanche of hate mail, some of which threatened bodily harm to him and his children — which is a criminal act. (It is a federal crime, USC 18.41 Sec. 875(c), punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, to transmit any communication containing a threat to injure the person of another, via email and other means of communication.)
Further demonstrating its academic priorities and impeccable ethics, the bright minds of Florida Atlantic University’s administration saw fit to host a panel discussion in which one of its professors lauded Sharia Law, capital punishment, and punishing thieves by cutting off their hands.
Breitbart reports that on May 24, 2016, FAU Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Associate Professor Bassem Alhalabi was part of a panel discussion on alleged Islamophobia, hosted by Florida Atlantic University’s Muslim Student Association.
Alhalabi said:
“Where there is no Sharia, Islamic Sharia, they die in dozens and hundreds every day because of organized crime. People kill people, other people or steal pizza for $10 and so – so when Islamic Shariah is saying about capital punishment – so even though it sounds like it is severe but if that is the solution to prevent any crimes, then it still has a lot of rules and regulations. I will just mention one and stop here, which is let’s say cutting off the hands of a person if they steal. It sounds very severe. It sounds very barbaric, I know. But if takes one or two people to have their hands cut off, and then there’s no more stealing and there’s no more stealing in the whole nation – that’s a much better resolution than having hundreds of people die every day.”
Alhalabi is from Syria. He has worked at FAU since 1996.
On January 26, 2011, Alhalabi pled guilty to assault and battery in March of 2010 on J. Mark Campbell of the Florida Security Council and investigative journalist Joe Kaufman.
In April 2011, about 50 people protested at the entrance of FAU, calling for the university to fire Alhalabi for his terrorist ties, including the Islamic Center of Boca Raton that he co-founded. The protesters said the center was bankrolled by Saudi Arabians and that several of its members, including its former imam, had been arrested.
The next day after the protest, Florida Atlantic University issued a statement in support of Alhalabi.
