Florida Atlantic U. Apologizes for “stomp on Jesus” Assignment

By Eowyn @DrEowyn

This is a follow-up on Trail Dust’s outstanding post of March 21, 2013, “President Lucifer’s disciples are feeling bold,” about an instructor (not a professor – Big Difference!) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Deandre J. Poole, who required his students to write “Jesus” on a piece of paper, then put it on the floor and stomp on it. A student, Ryan Rotela, refused to participate in the class assignment and was punished by being suspended from the class.

When the news first broke about this outrage, FAU had defended the controversial assignment. No doubt because of the volume of reaction FAU President Mary Jane Saunders (Email: [email protected]) received from outraged Christian Americans, the university apparently no longer thinks the class assignment was appropriate. From Doug Giles’ Clash Daily, March 23, 2013:

Florida Atlantic University has issued an apology for a classroom assignment that involving students writing the name “Jesus” on a sheet of paper and then stomping on the paper. The university also said the lesson will never again be used.

“We sincerely apologize for any offense this has caused,” the university said in a statement to Fox News. “Florida Atlantic University respects all religions and welcomes people of all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs.”
The university initially defended the Christ-bashing lesson which is included textbook titled, “Intercultural Communication: A Contextual Approach, 5th Edition.”

Fox News obtained a synopsis of the lesson taught by Deandre Poole, who also happens to be vice chair of the Palm Beach County Democratic Party.

Giles included this contact info for Instructor Deandre Poole. If you email Poole, I suggest that instead of cursing him, you practice Christian charity by telling him Jesus loves even those who hate him, including Deandre Poole, and that you are praying for him.

Demons hate the Light.
