Allow me to introduce Flashbulb Fires (@FlashbulbFires) and their luminous new LP, Gasconader – not “an effort to indulge, but rather, to capture…a vivid glowing statement.” A gasconader, by the way, is a boastful individual, which proves to be an extremely appropriate title in this case, as the Denver trio boasts a unique spin on indie pop with an americana feel. The album, a follow-up to their 2009 release Glory, came out this past May and features lush, swirling layers of sound, and supposedly trashcan lids, whips and glockenspiels.
If you’re like me and currently sulking because you missed them at CMJ (or CMJ altogether), you can find solace by visiting Flashbulb Fires’ beautiful Bandcamp page and having a listen — or you can, you know, just go ahead and buy the whole album.
