Five Ways to Wear Red Shoes

There was a time when it was hard for me to pass up red shoes in a store. I owned several pairs in a variety of styles, from sexy heels to chic loafers. Red shoes add a pop of color and make a bold statement without going overboard.

If red shoes draw you in like they do me, but you find yourself unsure about how to wear them, today's post will give you some outfit ideas using these Vince Camuto sandals. Be sure to check out additional styles at the end of this post.

Despite their appeal, red shoes can be tricky to wear with other colors. They do work well with neutrals, and I don't just mean black. I love olive paired with red. Unlike red and green, which can look like Christmas, red and olive is less holiday festive and quite sophisticated.

I styled this sheath dress from Banana Republic with the red sandals. I further finished the look with a taupe bag from Sole Society and layered necklace from Bauble Bar.

Camel and red is another favorite combination of mine. Typically, camel looks better when paired with warmer reds vs. cooler ones. When it comes to red shoes you can be a bit more lax with this rule.

In the outfit above, I styled the red shoes with a camel sweater from Equipment, jeans from J. Crew, leopard scarf from Sole Society, hoop earrings and brown bag from Tory Burch.

Navy and red is another easy go-to. Unless it's what you are going for, you have be careful not to look too patriotic. A little splash of red goes a long way, as does working tonally with blue like I did above.

I styled the red sandals with blue plaid pants from Reiss, a navy blazer from J. Crew and layering t-shirt from Vince. I finished the look with a navy tote from Banana Republic and bezel stone and pearl necklace.

Pairing red shoes with prints can be fun. What I like about this print dress from BOSS Hugo Boss paired with these red sandals is that the red is ever so slight in the print. You want to avoid being too matchy-matchy or obvious when pairing red shoes with prints. Also, if red shoes are to be your pop, you don't need to go overboard anywhere else. I finished the look with a black bag from Chelsea 28 and black twisted loop earrings from L. Erickson.

The last and easiest look I put together using red shoes is to pair them with black, black and white to be specific. Don't limit this simply to black and white pieces. Black and white prints can also be jazzed up with red shoes.

I styled the red shoes with a pair of black cuffed crop pants from Vince, a white jacket from Theory and v-neck blouse from Reiss. I finished the outfit with a small black bag from Ted Baker and statement necklace from Stella & Dot.
