Of all the color trends to come along in recent years, burgundy has to be my favorite. Not only is it a color I love (that loves me back), it is a shade that can be worn like a neutral, adding what feels like a breath of fresh air to many wardrobe options.
This is why I want to talk about burgundy pants in this post because they can easily be used in place of other common neutral bottom colors without being too jarring. In fact, burgundy pants can often solve a lot of problems of what to wear with things like black blazers and navy sweaters or other dark neutrals that seem to lack bottom options.
Five Ways to Wear Burgundy Pants

Outfit #1
What I love most about burgundy pants is they can be styled with warm or cool colors. This makes it a color that will work for just about everyone. In this first look, I added a grey sweater from J. Crew and finished the look with a plaid scarf from Bp., cognac booties from Calvin Klein, navy handbag from Botkier and earrings from Kendra Scott.

You may remember a client of mine who was inspired by the colors in the documentary Wild Wild Country and bought this Rag & Bone sweater. It's really stunning, not to mention soft and cozy. To create a tonal look with some interest I added it to these burgundy pants. I finished the outfit with burgundy booties from Zara, a vegan burgundy bag from Urban Originals and silver drop earrings from Ippolita.

This next burgundy pants outfit goes in a warmer route. I styled an ivory Vince blouse with the pants and topped it off with a taupe suede duster from Lafayette 148. I finished the outfit with a pair of olive pumps from Nine West and bag from See by Chloe, printed Etro scarf and gold earrings from Auden.

For a more casual pants using burgundy pants I styled this look with a plaid shirt from Bp. and a denim jacket from Two from Vince Camuto. I finished the look with a pair of yellow flats Seychelles (I love the way yellow pops off of burgundy) and burgundy bag from Rebecca Minkoff.

This last look I am styling with black. Burgundy seems to be the color that black die-hards are willing to embrace, even if it is just a little. I styled these burgundy pants with a colorblocked top from Eileen Fisher, black booties from Aquatalia, a black bag from Nordstrom and novelty pendant from Chico's.
