Five Ways To Overcome Tiredness

By Hollysbeautybox @hollysbeautybox
I don't know about you, but sometimes when I wake up in the morning, I feel more tired than I did when I went to sleep the night before. It just feels as though I am tired all the time but actually, there's no medical reason for me to be so tired and so I found a few things that help to overcome tiredness. Apparently, a lot of you feel the same way as I do, which is why I am sharing my Five Ways To Overcome Tiredness.
Five Ways To Overcome Tiredness Just as a wee disclaimer, in some cases there are some medical issues that can cause tiredness and of course some medications too, so be sure to get yourself checked out at the doctors if you're experiencing this too often or are having some other symptoms. Try not to worry though, usually these are minor things not worth worrying over - best to be checked out though - maybe you have an excuse to have a 3pm nap afterall! Otherwise, let's crack on!
1 - Don't under or over sleep.
So first thing's first (I'm the realest - sorry, couldn't resist! Please don't tell me I'm the only Iggy Azalea fan out there?) - assess how much you actually sleep. If you are so tired that you go to bed at 10pm (guilty) and don't rise from your pit until 8am (again, guilty!) then you're getting 10 hours of sleep.  Many sleep experts recommend between 8-9 hours per night which is like going to bed at 11pm and waking at 7am. By the same token, if you go to bed at 10pm, surf on twitter for an hour, read your kindle for a while then spend a fair amount of time running through the events of the day then you're getting a lot less sleep than you might need.
Oversleeping can lead to "getting into the habit" of being sleepy (you greedy sleepers!) whereas a lack of sleep can lead to genuine tiredness - if you aim to go to sleep at 11pm and wake up at 7am (perhaps 8am if needbe) then you are more likely to get into a routine where you are getting enough rest without feeling deprived. If you're anything like me, you'll still need your morning coffee regardless of how much sleep you get!
2 - Allocate certain times for surfing & social media
Social media is a lovely little entertainment zone, it keeps your mind occupied even when you don't want it to be occupied. You see if you overload your mind with too much, it starts working on overtime making you feel physically and emotionally drained which causes tiredness. Try allocating specific times where you can look at social media - it means you end up looking at it, processing the information and moving on without constantly checking at every tweet or Facebook notification. Oh, and make sure it's not right before bedtime (yes, this sucks for me too!)
3 - Drink water.
Sounds a wee bit obvious, but dehydration can cause tiredness. You don't even need to feel thirsty to be dehydrated! Drink water regularly throughout the day and you will feel much more energized. A good way to check if your hydrated is (queue TMI alert) to check your pee! If it's a dark colour, you need to drink water, if it's light and almost see through, you're well hydrated.
4 - Wave bye bye to your afternoon Cream Egg
Ughhhh this post is getting more and more negative as I type - sorry about that - but it has been proven that a diet high in sugar can cause tiredness - for example you get the initial sugar high which makes you feel happy at first but then you get the 'slump' soon after because your sugar levels drop.  Cutting out that sugar high for something a little bit less sugary will definitely help.
5 - Take a shower.
There are few problems in life a nice hot shower can't solve. In all seriousness, take a shower, wash your hair and all that jazz - you will feel so much more energized and raring to go.  And apart from anything else, just take a shower, you know, because you might smell a bit. Jokes... kind of.
I really hope these tips help you to overcome tiredness. I personally feel so much better when I implement just one of these things so doing all of them is a complete game changer for me. I hope it's the same for you!
Let me know in the comments if you have any suggestions!
All My Love
