British dream/synth pop group Wild Beasts announced their new LP, Present Tense, will drop on February 25th, and in the meantime gave us a look into the album’s sonic palette with the single, “Wanderlust”. To keep you crazed fans happy before the big release, they’ve now dropped a second single from the forthcoming album called “Sweet Spot”.
Bold synths and atmospheric, twinkling guitars are mixed with the sweeping, angelic vocals we admire so much. “Sweet Spot” is a slightly more uppity single than “Wanderlust”, but still holds true to the band’s underlying darkness and mysteriousness. The track starts out solidly, piecing together the meticulous layers, then plateaus into a stripped-back, extended bridge where it highlights lead singer Hayden Thorpe’s uniquely restrained vocals. The track then ends in an all-inclusive, dark, synth-rock finale.
